4WD Club Assists at
W.A. State Championships
Surf Carnival

In
February Peel 4x4 Club assisted the Secret Harbour Surf Life
Saving Club at their Surf Carnival and it wasn’t just any
Surf Carnival it was the big W.A. State Championships. We
began on Friday the 26th moving some of the equipment and
‘stuff’ onto the beach to get ready to hold an event for
1200 competitors and 3000 spectators.
The SHSLSC obtained permission from the Rockingham Shire to
allow us to drive onto the beach, as it is normally not
allowed.
This allowed us to tow onto the beach Not only surf boats
but trailers full of surf skis, surf boards, RIB’s and
"stuff” from the car park over the dunes and onto the beach.
This was a big bonus for the Surf Boat Teams as the team
members usually carry their equipment over the dunes and
onto the beach themselves.

A very large crowd attended the
championships and the surf club did a great job to organise
the weekend. After the events were over the equipment and
‘stuff’ were towed back over the dunes and to the car park
where the teams collected them.
There were about 20 members over the 3 days that assisted in
the towing of the boats and equipment, granted some of us (I
think ladies mostly) were there just to ensure that
everything was kept in order (or to look at the WONDERFUL
scenery) but that’s what us ladies are for… RIGHT?

Many thanks of appreciation were
received for the effort we saved them. All in all a great
day was had by all participants and spectators and Peel 4x4
Club look forward to helping at the next event.
